The ARL Employee Recognition Program is
designed to recognize outstanding ARL employees whose consistently high
standards and dedication help make ARL a leader in interdisciplinary science. The
program includes two types of individual awards and a celebration event held
annually in the spring to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of all ARL
employees in the past year.
ARL Employee Recognition Awards
Which ARL personnel are eligible for
nomination?
- Classified Staff
- Appointed Professionals
- Graduate Assistants/Associates and Fellowship Recipients
- Student Employees
- Previous recipients of recognition awards are eligible
- Please note: Members of the selection committee are NOT
eligible.
Who can nominate an
ARL eligible employee?
Any ARL faculty, appointed professional, classified
staff, graduate assistant/associate, student employee, or volunteer can submit
a nomination.
Types of Awards:
- Edmund A. Arbas
Awards. Established in 1995, these awards honor employees who “perform
extra duties over and above their regularly assigned duties” such as
volunteering for extra projects, working extra hours to accomplish a task, or
assisting others with their work. These awards also include a cash component in
accordance with UA policies. To

of his research interests, contributions and relationship with Arizona Research
Laboratories.
- ARL Excellence Awards: These awards honor individuals who
“perform their regularly assigned duties in an exemplary manner”.
While many individuals may exceed expectations in performing their
responsibilities, a few employees achieve results and/or provide services
that are particularly noteworthy.
Previous award recipients
are eligible for nomination. Nominees do not have to be in the same division as
the nominators.
Student Employees and
Graduate Assistants/Associates may be nominated for both categories listed
above, but will be evaluated as a group separately from other non-student
nominees.
Nominations may address cumulative achievements as an ARL employee, but the
ARL Recognition Committee will give the greatest weight to achievements occurring since the
last awards selection.
